Over Francisca
Francisca Portugal, a sought-after Portuguese violinist, is renowned for her multifaceted expertise in both chamber and orchestral music. A recent graduate of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Francisca has called the Netherlands her home for the past 6 years, where she attained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees under the guidance of Concertgebouw's Concertmaster and pedagogue, Liviu Prunaru.
Currently holding a position as 1st violin with the Residentie Orkest (Den Haag), Francisca's work has also led her to collaborate with the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, Rotterdam Philharmonisch Orkest, Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, Portuguese Chamber Orchestra, Orquestra XXI, Ensemble MPMP, among others.
Alongside her orchestral engagements, she forms the duo Grimm Duette with violinist Nátalie Kulina, earning them a spot in the finals of the Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Concours, where they present their original works and arrangements.
Francisca's musicianship has been recognized through numerous national and international competition prizes. As a soloist, she has shared the stage with various orchestras and performed on National TV and Radio Antena 2 in Lisbon, Canal Porto in Oporto, and Concertzender Actueel in Utrecht.

As a 1st violinist in Residentie Orkest (Den Haag), Francisca enjoys using her extra time to teach those who are music or violin enthusiasts.
"I firmly believe that passionate and hardworking people can learn and develop their violin skills independently of their current level. However, for that to be possible, it is essential to focus on the background of each individual and accommodate the teaching method according to the student's possibilities and wishes.
For the past 8 years, I have lived in the Netherlands, where I have taught students of different ages, nationalities, and levels. During my studies, I also had the chance to participate in a methodology course, which greatly influenced me as a teacher.
I am also interested in teaching orchestral excerpts and helping with audition preparation."
