• 1) Vertel ons wanneer je passie voor muziek is begonnen en, specifieker, wanneer de voorliefde voor jouw instrument is begonnen.

  1) I don't come from a very musical family, but I remember my mother in law had a piano I used to play as a kid, I had a lot of fun with it (though the adults probably weren't as happy hahaha). I also listened to some CD's my parents used to play. When I entered highschool they bought me a digital piano, and from then on my passion for music and my idea to become a pianist only increased.

• 2) Naar welke muziek zou je grijs kunnen draaien zonder er gek van te worden?

  2) That would probably be J.S Bach's music. I have listened to it for hours straight and it never ceases to amaze me, even when it's pieces I have heard many many times.

• 3) Vertel ons over de moeilijkste of bijzonderste les die je ooit gegeven hebt!

  3) There is not a particular lesson that comes to mind. I do remember the challenges from when I started teaching small children. Conservatory doesn't quite prepare you for that and I was faced with this very different way of teaching and doing things, but it is still something that I very much enjoy doing!

• 4) Wat is volgens jou het moeilijkste instrument om meester te worden en waarom?

  4) I think in all honesty almost every instrument is equally hard to master. The learning curve might be different (for example the piano or the guitar are much easier to start with) but achieving really good results will require a lot of practice and effort no matter the instrument.

• 5) Wat zijn, volgens jou, de sleutels tot succes (naast de sol- en fasleutel)?

  5) When it comes to music, I think one of the key elements is motivation. Mastering an instrument takes a lot of time, but personally I feel very grateful for enjoying the practice and rehearsals so much. I believe enjoying the process of learning should be as important as the goals we set for ourselves.

• 6) Noem een of meerdere muzikanten met wie je graag zou willen jammen in een bar om 2 uur 's nachts en vertel ons waarom!

  6) If I could pick someone from the past, it would probably be Mozart. I love his music, he is said to have a great sense of humor and he improvised amazingly. If I chose someone from our times, I would play with Jacob Collier. He is really knowledgeable about music, plays many instruments and has this very simple energy that I really like.

• 7) Kun je ons een leuke anecdote vertellen die te maken heeft met jouw beroep of jouw eigen schooltijd (en niet per se hoe je gevierd hebt dat je was toegelaten op het Conservatorium) ?

  7) Some colleagues and I gave a concert for piano 4 and 6! hands. We all knew each other pretty well, and we would get together to rehearse (very uncomfortably placed around the piano!), play ping pong and cook nice food. I hold many memories like this from my times at my first conservatory.

• 8) Wat maakt jou een geliefde Superprof bij al je leerlingen? (Een beetje opscheppen over jezelf kan nooit kwaad, toch?)

  8) I think students appreciate that I really try to listen and help them with their personal goals at the same time we work on some staple concepts. I also like to keep the lessons entertaining and put some humor in it.
