Classical Trumpet Lessons with an Experienced Professional Musician in Amsterdam - Preparation for Audition

I had the pleasure of being Jonathan’s colleague at the Gustav Mahler Orchestra, where I quickly came to appreciate not only his qualities as a trumpet player, but also his qualities as a person.

Jonathan is an incredible colleague: open, positive, always available, and someone with whom you can exchange ideas and opinions, both musical and personal. I believe this is a particularly valuable quality in a teacher, because it creates an environment where students can feel comfortable, motivated and genuinely understood.

After our experience at the orchestra, we also spent quite a lot of time together, and playing alongside him has always been a real pleasure. We have also met at several competitions, where he has consistently distinguished himself through his strong technical skills, musicality and preparation.

What I particularly appreciate is that Jonathan combines technical knowledge and musical sensitivity with a strong focus on the mental side of performance. This is something he has been working on a lot recently, and in my opinion it is absolutely fundamental for building a successful and sustainable career as a musician.

I would highly recommend Jonathan as a teacher to anyone looking for a complete, inspiring and approachable trumpet teacher who understands that becoming a great musician is not only about technique, but also about developing confidence, musical awareness and the right mindset.
