  At 6 years old, my father gave me a small 10€ synthetizer. From then on, every morning I would wake up and play around with it, before I had any lesson. I gained a taste for piano and composition that would last forever.
  I applied to Lisbon Music Conservatory at age 7 and I was admitted there until I got my diploma at 18.

• Vertel ons over de moeilijkste of bijzonderste les die je ooit gegeven hebt!

  The most special lesson was when I taught one of my students how to play one of my compositions. It was a completely new feeling to have a student wanting to play my pieces and to play them so well.

• Wat is volgens jou het moeilijkste instrument om meester te worden en waarom?

  I believe the violin is the hardest instrument to master. While a pianist just has to press a key in order to generate sound, a violinist has to make the sound themselves with the bow.

• Wat zijn, volgens jou, de sleutels tot succes (naast de sol- en fasleutel)?

  Invest time in what you really love.

• Noem een of meerdere muzikanten met wie je graag zou willen jammen in een bar om 2 uur 's nachts en vertel ons waarom!

  I would have loved to jam with Tom Jobim. He was also a composer and pianist, just like myself.

• Kun je ons een leuke anecdote vertellen die te maken heeft met jouw beroep of jouw eigen schooltijd (en niet per se hoe je gevierd hebt dat je was toegelaten op het Conservatorium) ?

  When I was 14, I applied to a music summer camp organised by one of my favourite artists Chilly Gonzales. One of the requirements for applying was to be more than 18 years old. I was 14 so I wasn't accepted. However, Chilly personally sent me an email saying my application was one of the best he had received and I would have had a great chance of making it into the summer camp if I was at least 18 years old. He encouraged me to continue doing music and told me to apply again in the future (the summer camp never happened again).
  Receiving this feedback from such a hero of mine made me super proud and motivated to continue pursuing my passion.

• Wat maakt jou een geliefde Superprof bij al je leerlingen? (Een beetje opscheppen over jezelf kan nooit kwaad, toch?)

  I believe learning music (piano) should be accessible and fun. I also believe that my technical knowledge, my 15 years of experience alongside my youth are a great recipe for that.
