I am a Costa Rican drummer and percussionist based in Rotterdam, with a strong background in both music performance and education. I hold a Master’s degree in World Music Percussion from Codarts – University of the Arts Rotterdam, and a Bachelor’s degree in Percussion Teaching and Performance (Summa Cum Laude) from the National University of Costa Rica.
This training has given me a solid technical foundation and a broad, flexible musical approach, allowing me to work confidently across styles such as pop, jazz, Latin and world music.
As a performer, I have appeared at internationally recognised venues and festivals including North Sea Jazz Festival (NL), Carnegie Hall New York (USA), Concertgebouw Amsterdam (NL), and the Monterey Jazz Festival (USA). I have also collaborated with respected artists and ensembles such as Ed Calle and the CCCN Jazz Orchestra, experiences that continually shape and enrich my musical perspective.
I have been teaching for over 10 years, guiding students from beginners to university level. My goal as an educator is to share not only technique, but also musicianship, creativity, rhythmic awareness and confidence, helping each student find their own authentic voice on the instrument.

About the lessons
My lessons are structured, engaging and tailored to your unique goals. Whether you want to master the drum set, dive into Latin percussion, improve your groove, prepare for auditions, or expand your musical vocabulary, I design a learning path that fits your interests and pace.
Teaching philosophy and method
I focus on:
• Technical fluency (coordination, independence, touch and control)
• Groove and feel (rhythmic accuracy, dynamics, expression)
• Musical understanding (reading, time concepts, styles)
• Applied music (playing songs, ensemble concepts, creativity)
I combine progressive exercises, repertoire work, and rhythmic literacy tools, always relating practice to music you love playing.
