Hello! My name is Nishankh Yakthumba, a jazz guitarist based in Rotterdam and a second-year Bachelor’s student in Jazz Guitar at Codarts. With more than 8 years of experience in guitar playing and performance, I offer structured, professional, and student-focused guitar lessons designed to help musicians grow with confidence.
My teaching approach combines clear technical guidance with creativity and musical understanding. I work step by step, ensuring students develop strong fundamentals while also learning how to apply them musically. Lessons typically include technique, fretboard knowledge, rhythm, repertoire, and basic to advanced music theory, depending on the student’s level and goals.
I teach Rock, Blues, Pop, Jazz, and R&B, and place special emphasis on fretboard mastery, improvisation, and composition. This helps students not only play songs, but truly understand the instrument and express themselves through music.
Each lesson is fully tailored to the student’s experience, interests, and learning pace. I work with beginners, intermediate players, and advanced students who want to refine their skills or deepen their musical knowledge. A supportive and motivating learning environment is central to my teaching, as I believe this is key to long-term progress.
Students are guided on effective practice methods and encouraged to develop consistent, enjoyable practice habits. My goal is to provide clear structure, professional guidance, and inspiring lessons that help each student reach their full potential on the guitar.

Hello!
I’m Nishankh Yakthumba, a 21-year-old Jazz guitarist based in Rotterdam and currently am pursuing my bachelors in jazz guitar in Codarts as a second year. With 10 years of experience in guitar playing and performance, I’m passionate about helping students explore music and grow as musicians. My journey in music has given me a deep understanding of the guitar, and I’m eager to share that knowledge with you all.
I can guide you through a variety of guitar styles, including Rock, Blues, Pop, Jazz, and RnB—so no matter what you love to listen to, I can help you play it. I also focus on helping students master the guitar fretboard and unlock creative ways of improvising and composing their own music with the instrument. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, I’ll ensure you have a solid understanding of the techniques and music theory that will help you grow as a guitarist and composer.
In each lesson, I will provide individual, student-focused evaluation and support based on your skill level and musical interests. My goal is to tailor each lesson to meet your unique needs, helping you progress at your own pace while keeping things fun and engaging. I’ll also make sure you develop a strong foundation in the essential techniques and theory needed to excel on the guitar.
For each lesson, bring your guitar and a notebook to jot down helpful tips. I encourage all my students to review what we’ve learned before the next session and to find ways to enjoy playing the guitar in their own time. I’m also happy to offer guidance on how to make the most of your practice time, so you’re always improving!
