Over Ioannis
Hi! My name is Ioannis, and I recently graduated from the University of Groningen with a MSc in Astronomy.
I am originally from Cyprus (I speak Greek and English), but I have lived in Groningen for the last 5 years and have made many beautiful memories with people from all over the world! Between 2022 and 2026, I worked as a Teaching Assistant for courses at the Physics/Astronomy BSc level, including Calculus 1&2, Linear Algebra, Atomic Physics, and Hydrodynamics. I was honoured to be voted Teaching Assistant of the Year by the BSc students three times, reflecting positive feedback.
I was also a Mentor to 20 first-year BSc Astronomy students, helping them navigate their first semester, and received training on coaching and inclusivity. My alliance with student growth is further supported by my preparation of high school students to represent Cyprus at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics in 2022 and 2023.
Besides teaching, I am passionate about exoplanets and learning about their atmospheres, interiors, and observational signatures. I am also the biggest Taylor Swift fan and could talk about music, movies, and TV shows for hours!
Let me know if I can help with Math, Physics, Astronomy, preparation for University, or anything else!

My approach to tutoring puts the student at the center. Their needs, goals, and approach to learning are the core of my teaching style. One of my first students worked for a full year to save enough money for her tuition fees before coming to the University of Groningen, and, as her Teaching Assistant, some of that money made its way to me. The least I could do was make sure her hard work did not go to waste.
I enjoy going over the material together using examples (from easy to difficult) to illustrate important points, followed by solving the most insightful exercises.
A student choosing to spend their valuable time with me shows trust, and I take that very seriously. I understand the importance of being patient, engaging, and flexible. I speak very basic Dutch; therefore, I can comfortably tutor only in English.
