Over Charlotte
I have studied languages since early high-school. I was the first student to pass Japanese and Dutch and the first student to obtain a pass of over 90% in a modern foreign language.
I have been part of reviving and reconstructing the local language of my home town.
I am currently in the Open Univeristy. I taught Japanese at a GCSE level for 2 years with my experience from studying as I was able to adapt my experiences with the courses to better teach.

I use a method many linguists call the "re-association" method, I will teach you grammar in your language but vocabulary will be taught with the above mentioned method.
This method involves using the connections to concepts that your brain already has.
Think back to your childhood friend, can you remember what they looked like much better than what they sounded like?
Your mind is very good at associating things with images and senses.
Instead of making new connections we can use what already exists.
I could show you an apple and tell you that it's called a "ringo" in Japanese, well this seems like it didn't work, right?
This is why it works, you're already familiar with the concept of an apple, you will find it much easier to understand the Japanese word rather than translate it.
If this method doesn't work out for you we can discus what will make it easier for you to learn, I believe language is a personal journey and it is to be enjoyed not suffered through.
I will start everyone off with an introduction into the Japanese language, the sounds we will encounter and a look at the writing systems in the language.
If you'd just like to learn spoken Japanese, this is also possible
