Over Pāvels
Pavels Laganovskis is an accomplished Latvian pianist, collaborative artist, and composer currently based in Amsterdam. His multifaceted artistic practice encompasses solo recital, chamber music, and interdisciplinary collaborations that integrate contemporary dance and media arts.
Beginning his musical journey at the age of five with piano and violin studies, Laganovskis subsequently expanded his expertise to include organ and composition. Early recognition came through success in national and international competitions, culminating in prestigious awards from the Latvian Ministry of Culture and the Riga City Council. Notably, his first-place achievements at the 6th International Chopin Competition and the Ineses Galantes Talent Competition secured him a scholarship to advance his professional training.
Between 2016 and 2021, he undertook rigorous piano performance studies at the Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music under Professors Toms Ostrovskis and Juris Kalnciems, as well as at the Russian Gnessin Academy of Music with Professor Tatiana Zelikman, graduating with distinction.
Throughout this period, Laganovskis cultivated a diverse repertoire spanning canonical classical works alongside 20th-century and contemporary compositions, performing extensively across the Baltic region, Finland, and Russia.

I had been practicing pedagogy for three years under the supervision of Augusta Malinkovskaja, Ped.D. My piano performance teacher was Tatiana Zelikman, whose famous students include Daniil Trifanov, Konstantin Lifschitz, Olga Pashcencko, etc. Professors’ classes were focused on the development of piano playing skills with an emphasis on pedagogy. Previously obtained undergraduate degrees included courses in psychology, educational psychology, teacher ethics, innovative methods in education, piano playing methodology, new perspectives on music pedagogy, and pedagogical internship, among many others.
During my internship at two municipal music schools in Riga and a private institution in Moscow, I acquired extensive experience working with students across various age groups. I conducted a thorough examination of methodological literature focusing on the physiological aspects of piano playing. This investigation enabled me to gain a nuanced understanding of the unique characteristics and needs associated with different age demographics in musical education.
