Over Efstratia
I’m a professional cellist based in Amsterdam and a teacher who genuinely enjoys working with people of all ages and levels. I’ve studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and performed with ensembles such as the Rotterdam Philharmonic (internship) and Asko|Schönberg, as well as at festivals and venues like Muziekgebouw and Concertgebouw.
What matters most to me as a teacher is the person in front of me. I listen, I adapt, and I try to create a lesson space where you feel safe, motivated, and taken seriously. I have experience teaching beginners, advanced students, and people with dyslexia and ADHD, and I’m happy to adjust the way I explain and structure things so that it really works for you.

My lessons are built around you: your goals, your pace, and your way of learning.
We start by talking about what you would like from the lessons – for example:
- discovering the cello as a beginner
- building a solid technique and beautiful sound
- preparing for an exam, audition, or school project
- coming back to the instrument after a break
From there, I create a clear but flexible plan. Some lessons are more structured and focused, others are more playful and exploratory. I like to balance serious work with moments of fun, so that you improve but also really enjoy making music.
We can work on:
- cello technique and posture
- musical expression and interpretation
- repertoire (classical, contemporary, chamber music, etc.)
- music theory and reading skills
- practice strategies and confidence in performing
Lessons take place in Amsterdam, and in some cases I can also come to your home (depending on location and schedule).
If you have any questions or special needs (for example dyslexia or ADHD), just let me know – I’m happy to adapt the lessons so that you feel comfortable and supported.
