Over Ariel
Ariel Sin Yu Lee is a singer from Hong Kong. She was awarded the Holland Scholarship by the Dutch government in 2017 and obtained her master’s degree in voice at the HKU Utrecht Conservatory in 2019. Ariel is an active performer with a broad musical interests covering classical, musical and pop & jazz styles.
Ariel is currently based in Utrecht, the Netherlands. She has worked with various professional vocal ensembles and opera companies in the Netherlands including the Netherlands Chamber Choir, Consensus Vocalis, Beleef Klassiek, Opera Spanga, Dutch National Opera (Opera Forward Festival) and Dutch Touring Opera.
Ariel also works with pop & jazz musicians. In 2021-2022, Ariel toured with Wende Snijders in her production "De Wildernis" in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Ariel is also the singer and co-founder of the artist collective Fire is Scary. The collective presents new original music with visual arts and theater elements. Fire is Scary is supported by funds from the Netherlands, South Korea and Switzerland for their performances, album release and artistic research.

My aim in offering singing lessons is to help people to sing and express themselves freely and authentically. I warmly welcome every student to my class who would like to attain vocal freedom.
Throughout my years of vocal training and teaching, I realise the importance of the alignment of body, mind and spirit. Singing is all about creating beautiful resonance with our body, which serves as a medium to express our feelings and thoughts.
Therefore in my classes, I create an interactive, safe, fun and friendly learning environment while still being attentive and informative to cater every student’s needs and progress.
- Methodology-
In my lessons, I often start with breathing and grounding exercises for warming up the body and the voice gently. Then we will work on the vocal techniques and explore vocal possibilities throughout the whole vocal range. Then we will work on one song or two songs according to the preference and progress of the student.
It is possible to work on speech and music theory in the lessons as well. I can also help students to prepare for vocal competitions, vocal exams (such as ABRSM and Trinity exams) and concerts.
- Lessons duration -
I offer individual lessons of 30 mins (only for children below 10 years old), 45 mins, 60 mins and 75 mins.
Group lessons are also possible if the student already has a group.
- Qualifications and experience as a teacher -
- Master of Music in Voice, HKU Utrecths Conservatorium (graduated in 2019)
- Bachelor of Arts in Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (graduated in 2012)
I have been giving singing lessons to students of various ages, musical backgrounds and interests since 2012, in groups and in individual basis
Currently I am working as the chief singing teacher in International School Utrecht
- For whom? -
Anyone who is interested to sing in the styles of classical music, pop & jazz music and music theater. Students of all ages and musical backgrounds are welcome.
- Language -
Lessons are conducted in English, Cantonese or Mandarin with possible simple Dutch conversations

Specificaties
Travel costs starts from 10 euros extra per lesson (for distance within 5 km from my home), for further distance the travel costs are upon discussion
Each lesson package has to be used up within 1 year dated from the 1st lesson
Intake lesson is of 1 hour with a 50% off discount so at 26 euros
All the rates stated are excl. 21% VAT (Value added tax). For students below 21 years old, it is tax free.
