My lessons are tailored to your or your child's needs. I use components of the Colourstrings method, which favors creativity and imagination and puts a lot of importance on staying physically and mentally free. The violin can be a tricky instrument to learn because it is very easy to develop unnecessary tension, which can result in injuries later in life. One of my main goals is to prevent that in my students. Coincidentally, I am also currently writing my master's research on that topic.
I am a violin student in the 2nd year of the master's curriculum at the HKU Utrechts Conservatorium. I have taught students of all ages (between 7 and about 80). You or your child are welcome no matter if you have never touched a violin in your life, if you've been playing for a few years already, or if you used to play years ago and want to pick it up again now. It is not necessary to be able to read notes, we will learn that along the way!
Anne-Catherine started her musical journey at the Conservatoire to Nord (Luxembourg) where she was taught the piano by Stefano Evangelista and the violin by Sofie Vermeersch. Between 2014 and 2015, she also studied the violin at the Schola Cantorum in Paris, in the class of Jean-Pierre Wallez.
Anne-Catherine is passionate about both chamber music and orchestra playing, and has been a member of numerous orchestras such as the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands (NJO), the Utrecht Young Orchestra (UYO), the Orchestre de la Grande Région, as well as two “Side-by-side” projects organized by the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg (OPL). On the baroque violin, she has been a member of the Ensemble de la Chapelle Saint-Marc (ECSM) and Les Goûts-Réunis. She is also part of the Alban Kwartet, an energetic young string quartet specialized in music of the 1st and 2nd Viennese Schools.
Since 2015, she is a co-organizer of the Summer Orchestra Luxembourg, an ambitious youth orchestra bringing together students and professionals from in and around Luxembourg.
On masterclasses, she has been shaped by teachers such as Larissa Kolos, Sandrine Cantoreggi, Bijan Khadem-Missagh and Sebastian Bohren. Notable masterclasses include the Icicle Creek Chamber Music Festival (Leavenworth, WA), the Aurora Music Festival (Stockholm) and the Francigena International Arts Festival (Altopascio).
Since 2015, Anne-Catherine studies the violin at the HKU Utrecht Conservatory in the class of Elisabeth Perry. She obtained her Bachelor of Music in June 2019 and is currently in her 2nd year of the master’s curriculum. Between 2017 and 2018, she spent an Erasmus exchange year at Kunstuniversität Graz (KUG), in the class of Eszter Haffner.
