Over Isabel
I completed my 200-hour Yin Yoga teacher training from 2022 to 2023 at Yagoy in Amsterdam, a Yoga Alliance-certified training. Since then, I have been teaching classes on a freelance basis, mostly in community spaces or in an outdoor setting. My regular classes are at Villa Buitenlust, a wonderful space close to Westerpark that provides a place to stay for caregivers who need a break, and for those with mental health challenges or a stressful home life. The Yin I teach here focuses on rest and mindfulness, and is of course from a completely functional approach, owing to the variety of experience the participants have with yoga.
I have also taught more thematic classes, for example, my Root and Rise series at Lola Lieven, whereby I encouraged participants to work from the ground up in the first session and flow back down in the second, creating a circular experience.

I am an avid runner. I focus on ultra distances and use Yin to help me both physically and mentally with this training. I have been working on a Yin for Runners series and would love to introduce this to you. It includes focus on the physical aspects of running, but also guided meditations and breathwork to help cope with the mental side of the sport, at any level.
As Yin has such a functional approach, completely veering away from the aesthetic of how a pose should look, I love that it is an extremely inclusive practice and allows for all levels of experience and all bodies to take part. This is a mindset I take very seriously in my practice.
