Over Krys
I am an American expat living abroad in the Netherlands. I keep Nijmegen as my home base while I travel, teach and write.
I began life in rural Texas, and I received my education from Texas A&M - Commerce. I have a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies - Education, a teaching certificate from both Texas and Oklahoma, a 120-hr TEFL certification from the International Open Academy, and endorsements to teach English language learners and students with learning differences and disabilities. I have a passion for working with immigrant students, refugees, and students with Autism, ADD, ADHD, and dyslexia.
I am also a professional writer and author. I ghost write books for busy authors, have published three under my own name, and regularly write SEO content for small and medium-sized businesses around the world. Because of my passion for writing, I also love to teach writing, and I am a writing coach for Speak Your Own Book.

My lessons are all customized to the student. I start by asking the student what they want to learn, what their learning style is, what has worked and not worked for them when learning new skills in the past, etc. I then recommend options for curriculum and lesson format, and the student selects the options that work best for them. As we go through the material together in a conversational, collaborative manner, we determine what is working and what is not working for the student and refine the course as we go. I love to bring in interactive games, YouTube videos, reading selections of interest to the student, and authentic learning experiences, such as real-world reading, writing, listening and speaking activities. In addition, I teach American culture, politics, economics and history, which has been helpful for many English language learners who are entering the American marketplace and society.
