Over Maíra
Olá! I’m from the beautiful city of Rio. I've been living abroad for over 10 years, first in Brussels and currently in Amsterdam, which has given me a deep understanding of the challenges and joys of learning a new language. In addition to languages, I love reading books and watching films, elements I often bring into my lessons.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Portuguese and English languages and literatures, and have more than 15 years of experience working as a Portuguese translator and reviewer. This background has given me a strong command of the Portuguese language.
Currently, I'm completing a Postgraduate Degree in Teaching Portuguese as a Foreign Language to develop my teaching skills. My aim is to offer clear, structured, and personalized classes in a supportive and friendly environment.
It will be a pleasure to guide you through your Portuguese learning journey and to share not only the Portuguese language, but also aspects of Brazilian culture along the way.

Maíra is a great teacher. Her lessons are fun and varied, integrating grammar and vocabulary in different exercises. She uses texts, videos, and audio from real-life Brazilian sources so you get to practise reading, listening and speaking and learn something about Brazilian culture as well. She clearly knows a lot and is good at explaining things, also because her English is excellent. I would definitely recommend taking classes with her!
Maíra has been my Portuguese teacher for the past 6 months and I very much enjoy her classes. Maíra is patient and really takes the time to explain something. She is open-minded and always open to suggestions on topics to discuss next. I like that she is very reliable and I can always count on her. I strongly recommend her as a teacher!
