My name is Christel. I was born and raised in the Netherlands. By profession, I am a jurist in Dutch law, and I worked for over 11 years at the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) in the Netherlands. As a result, I have extensive knowledge of (European) migration law. In 2018, I moved with my family to the Costa Blanca in Spain. In addition to Dutch, I also speak English, Spanish, German, and a bit of French.
I have many interests and hobbies. I enjoy reading books, walking in nature or in the city, playing tennis, photography, history, and spending time with my two cats. I’m also interested in traveling and learning about other cultures. That’s why teaching Dutch suits me so well. I enjoy teaching my students about the Dutch language and culture, and I also love hearing from my students about their own language and culture. Often, there are more similarities than we might think at first glance.

I offer structured lessons using a digital method (LINK+) or we work with a textbook (such as Nederlands in gang, Nederlands in actie, Nederlands op niveau, or Nederlands naar perfectie). The method is chosen in consultation with the student. The focus of the lessons is on conversation, but there is also room to practice grammar or discuss writing assignments. I am flexible and can fully tailor the lessons to the student’s needs. My lessons prepare students for the A1, A2, B1, or B2 exams organized by the Dutch government. Students who are legally required to take a language exam under Dutch law are welcome, as well as those who are not required to take an exam but simply want to learn Dutch.
