Over Tim
Hello, my name is Tim Biervliet and I'm from the Netherlands (Holland). I speak standard Dutch (ABN). I am an experienced and enthusiastic teacher of Dutch as a second language.
Besides that, I am fond of culture, history, and geography.
I have years of experience in language teaching, during which I have learned how to tailor blended learning methods to your needs and interests with the goal of improving your Dutch. Additionally, I have worked as a coach in various sectors in the Netherlands. I hold a TEFL certification and have acquired extensive teaching experience at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), instructing both adults and children. I utilize materials tailored to each student's level, profession, and specific needs, including fields like IT, medical, agriculture, construction, and business. I look forward to working on your Dutch with you!
I am continually developing and seeking out new materials tailored to your needs. Combined with my experience, these resources will significantly enhance your Dutch skills! Besides assisting you with your use of Dutch and focusing on your profession, role, and interests, I like to focus on different aspects of culture such as food, art, street culture, music, and history.

My classes are personalized and active. I have a lot of ready-made material in the form of digital pdfs and online resources to use. But I also like to make and use my own material that is focused on you as a learner. So, if you are interested in tourism, or healthcare I can gear the classes towards that niche. If you're interested in street art or business I can focus on that.
My lessons for beginners are focussed on verb conjugation, basic vocabulary, and pronunciation for common situations such as introducing yourselves or ordering.
Business Dutch
I specialize in business language training, working with expat professionals across various industries in the Netherlands and Belgium. I create tailored materials and review homework outside of class to ensure our in-class time is highly efficient. To maximize your Dutch language progress, I encourage you to submit homework between sessions, ensuring our meetings are as productive as possible. Together, we can achieve your language goals and enhance your professional communication skills!
NT2
I am here to help you prepare for the Dutch NT2 exam with targeted methodologies and materials tailored specifically to your level. Our sessions will focus on essential areas like grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking, and writing. Additionally, we will cover Kennis van de Nederlandse Samenleving (Knowledge of Dutch Society) to ensure you gain a comprehensive understanding of the cultural context. I also have experience with the preparation for the Naturalisatie Examen op Curaçao en Aruba. Together, we will make sure you are fully prepared and confident for your exam!
CNAVT
Let's gear our classes towards achieving success in the CNAVT exam! This certification is your ticket to showcasing your Dutch language proficiency on a global scale. With exams that are task-based and tailored to specific domains, you'll be well-prepared in my classes.
Intensive Dutch
With extensive experience in intensive Dutch training, I work with professionals from various industries, tailoring materials to meet your specific needs. Writing exercises outside of class help identify key grammar points to focus on. I have experience with assisting in passing A1, A2, B1, B2, B2+, and C1 exams, and also the equivalents on the Dutch Antilles and Curaçao. Together, we will ensure you make rapid progress and achieve your Dutch language goals with confidence!
