Hello!
My name is Ezra, I'm originally from the United States. English is my native language. I also know SEE sign language, ASL, and am learning Portuguese. Personally understanding the process of learning a foreign language is very helpful for me as a language teacher; I understand my students' difficulties and I am able to provide advice and tools that I have personal experience with.
In teaching English, I hope to help provide a world of opportunity to my students that would not otherwise be available. My mother is Deaf, and I grew up translating between her and the hearing world. I was always very aware of the importance of access to language, and of the struggles that accompany an inability to communicate in many situations. Because of these experiences, I am particularly sensitive to the needs of individuals who are living in a foreign country, or who are otherwise often in situations where lack of language is a significant barrier.

I've been teaching English as a second language and tutoring for about two years. In this time, I've worked with over 70 students, who have fallen within a wide range of age and proficiency.
I teach extracurricular English classes at local elementary schools here in the Netherlands. I also teach private lessons for children, teenagers, and adults. For teens, I mostly tutor, help with exam prep, and provide support for students who are struggling with higher-level English courses in school.
I've really found a passion in teaching, and have pursued a TEFL level 5 qualification (equivalent to DipHE, CELTA, and Trinity CertTESOL) in the hope of building a career teaching English.
My teaching methodology is very interactive and often student-led. Of course, I adapt the lessons to fit the needs and interests of the student. Because of this, the first lesson is always introductory in nature; I see it as a chance for us to introduce ourselves to each other and for me to assess the student's goals, skill level, and their personality and interests. From there, I will design a plan for where to start, what skills to focus on, and what topics might be engaging to design lessons around.
