Over Sabine

Hi! I'm a native English speaker with a strong academic background in both American and international education, and I'm passionate about helping others become more confident and comfortable communicating in English!

I graduated with honors from an American high school and went on to earn my Bachelor's degree in Communication Science with honors from the University of Amsterdam (UvA). I am currently continuing my studies at UvA, pursuing my Master's degree in English.

Having grown up with the American education system and completed standardized examinations such as the SAT and AP exams, I have developed a strong foundation in English vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing, and communication. Studying at an international university has also given me an appreciation for the challenges of learning and communicating in a second language.

I understand that everyone learns differently, which is why I aim to create a welcoming, patient, and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, practicing their English, and making mistakes without judgment.

My lessons focus on developing practical language skills, particularly American English pronunciation, vocabulary, listening comprehension, and conversational fluency. Whether you're just starting your English-learning journey or hoping to refine your existing skills, I tailor each lesson to your individual goals, interests, and learning pace.

I believe that building confidence is just as important as mastering grammar and vocabulary. My goal is to make English feel less intimidating and more natural, helping you express yourself clearly and confidently in everyday conversations, academic environments, and professional settings.

I look forward to helping you achieve your English-learning goals!

As a native English speaker with a strong academic background in American and international education, I aim to make learning English an engaging, comfortable, and rewarding experience. I graduated with honors from an American high school and earned my Bachelor's degree in Communication Science with honors from the University of Amsterdam (UvA), where I am currently pursuing my Master's degree in English.

My Teaching Approach

I believe that learning a language should feel natural, interactive, and enjoyable rather than intimidating. My lessons are personalized to each student's goals, interests, and current English level. Whether you want to improve your pronunciation, expand your vocabulary, strengthen your listening comprehension, or become more confident speaking English, I adapt my teaching methods to suit your needs.

I focus on practical English that students can apply in everyday conversations, academic settings, and professional situations. My approach combines guided conversations, vocabulary exercises, listening activities, pronunciation practice, and constructive feedback. I encourage students to ask questions, make mistakes, and develop confidence at their own pace.

What a Typical Lesson Looks Like

A typical lesson begins with a brief conversation to help you feel comfortable speaking English and review any topics from our previous session. From there, we focus on a specific learning goal, such as improving pronunciation, understanding spoken English, learning new vocabulary, or practicing natural conversation.

Depending on your needs, we might work through short reading passages, listening exercises, real-life conversation scenarios, or targeted pronunciation activities. I provide explanations, examples, and personalized feedback throughout the lesson.

At the end of each session, we review what you've learned and identify areas to continue practicing.

My Specialties

I can help with:

English conversation and fluency: Developing confidence in everyday discussions and expressing ideas naturally.

Pronunciation and American English: Improving pronunciation, clarity, and familiarity with American English expressions.

Vocabulary development: Expanding your vocabulary for everyday life, school, university, or professional settings.

Listening comprehension: Understanding spoken English in conversations, presentations, and other real-life situations.

Grammar and sentence structure: Improving accuracy and confidence in both spoken and written English.

Academic English: Strengthening reading comprehension, written expression, and communication skills for academic environments.

Having completed American standardized examinations, including the SAT and AP exams, I am also familiar with the expectations of the American education system and can support students who want to strengthen their English skills for academic purposes.

Who Are My Lessons For?

My lessons are suitable for children, teenagers, university students, and adults, from beginners to advanced learners. Whether you're preparing to study in an English-speaking environment, looking to improve your English for work, or simply hoping to feel more comfortable communicating in English, I would be happy to help.

Above all, I want to create a supportive learning environment where you feel comfortable practicing, asking questions, and making meaningful progress toward your goals.
