Hello, I'm Jayd, a native English speaker from the United States and a Cambridge CELTA-qualified teacher, trained at the British Language Training Centre in Amsterdam.
I hold a bachelor's degree in English (Centre College), a master's degree in Media Business (Carnegie Mellon University), and before teaching I spent a decade in a corporate-facing creative industry, writing for and presenting to demanding audiences, which is why I take clear, confident communication at work seriously.
As a student of the Italian language myself, I know what learners go through when they are working in a language that is not yet automatic, and I keep my lessons friendly, practical, and focused on the English you actually need.

I am a CELTA-qualified English teacher and a native speaker from the United States, and my lessons are designed for adult learners who need English for work, whether that means taking part in meetings, writing clear emails, negotiating, conducting meetings, or presenting with confidence. I also teach general conversational English, so if your goals are broader than your job, the lessons can follow that too.
Before we begin, I will have you complete a short survey, which will tell me more about your English level and your learning goals. With this information, I can create lessons specifically for you. What do you want to learn? What is your goal? How will you use English in your real life? You will never work through material that does not apply to you.
Each lesson starts with the language in a realistic context, such as an email or a meeting extract, and I then help you work out the meaning and the pattern for yourself, which tends to make new language stick better than being handed a rule. We practice the pronunciation so that it comes out naturally when you speak, build accuracy with focused exercises, and finish by using what you've learned in a realistic situation, like running a meeting or replying to a difficult email. I note your mistakes and go through them with you afterwards, so you keep your flow and still know exactly what to fix.
Before teaching, I spent a decade in a corporate-facing creative industry, where I wrote for and presented to demanding audiences, so I understand what professional communication requires, and I adjust the pace, the materials, and the amount of correction to each learner.
