Over Alicja
Hi!
I'm Alicja, a Polish-born, UK-raised English language teacher, happy to help you achieve your learning goals. I'm CertTESOL qualified and I have taught in places such as the UK, Ireland, Spain and Chile. Currently I am living in Antwerp, where I am pursuing a PhD in Applied Linguistics.
I am a keen language student myself and I studied Spanish and Portuguese for my bachelor degree in Bristol. Later on, my love for literature and the written word took me to Dublin, where I completed my master's in Literary Translation. Now, I am working as a researcher at the University of Antwerp but I find teaching to be the most fulfilling activity. I love guiding others through the process of learning another language, getting to know my students and seeing them flourish.

Are you looking to improve your English language skills? I can help you reach your learning goals in a fun and supportive environment. Here is an overview of the types of classes I offer:
Conversational English - here we will focus on strenghtening your speaking and listening skills! Each class focuses on a topic chosen to broaden your vocabulary. You will receive an article to read or a video to watch before the class to familiarise yourself with the topic and this way we can spend our lesson time talking. We will review key vocabulary and I will correct recurring grammar mistakes and point you to resources so you can practice at home (if you wish).
IELTS Speaking Prep - are you preparing to take the IELTS exam?I can guide you through the structure of the exam and explain what the examiners are looking for. We will practice, practice, practice until you feel confident to tackle any topic that might come up in the exam! We will use real examples from previous IELTS exams in the classes.
English for Academic Purposes - if you need help with your academic English, then this course is for you. We can focus either on writing skills (e.g. thesis or article writing) or delivering an academic presentation. This is entirely dependant on your needs and the project on which you're currently working.
