Over Samuel
My name is Samuel, a recent social sciences and politics graduate from Hungary. I have a special interest in all things human, whether it is languages, cultures, societies, politics, ways of thinking.
For the past three years I have received an intensive training in the political sciences, philosophy and sociology, which I hope to familiarize other people with. Other than that, I am an avid reader of many forms of literature, especially those ones that would make your head hurt. I am currently in Leuven with the aim to subsist on my teaching, so if you are interested, do get involved, you would help me out massively!
Because of my nonexistent Dutch, I would conduct my classes in an accessible and easy, common sense English, though I would not harken if I would have to speak French. (It's a different question how well I would speak it!)

As a social studies and humanities graduate, I necessarily have a tendency toward framing my classes as chances for a deeper reflection on themes I meet every day. I was specialized to know the workings of politics, society, history and philosophy, but acquiring them also means that we experienced them before, and that is how we are able to show them to others first hand. Thus, nothing exists in isolation, because we live in them. What we live in and what defines us as social beings is what I intend to teach.
This is also why I like to use a conversational method employed in most of my past seminars where one is drawn into engagement by a mutual discussion of the theme considered, and then extended across a variety of possible domains. The reason as to why I would apply such a method is because not imposing any barriers to what could be discussed removes any limitation on what is, in a way, already known, and which existing knowledge can then become considered under new aspects. Thus, I like to flash out the details in the setting itself.
I would like to keep my lessons open in their theme, and only formally attached to a specific topic, it would keep things interrelated and multidisciplinary. This would be reflected even in the use of study materials, primary sources, readings, data, etc. where grasping their relations and differences can yield us a wider field of inferences on a topic if they are read together and compared, which would be the technique. We would progress in considering a specific topic - a term, a concept, an epoch, a style, etc. - and then work on bringing out the inner content of where such a topic is present, meaningful and applicable.
I have particular understandings of speech, communication and teaching, all of which are present in how the discussion would unfold. I have a good grasp on how to guide and organize the information gathered into a more complex whole, something that allows me to hold the lines of thought together in inquiring into their relations. This I would do with special attention paid to the interests and demands of the student, and allow them to say what they think in the context of the discussion, which is why I would keep a respectful distance, so that views different than mine would gain more.
Although I would think it more advantageous to work with high school students (more or less years 11 and 12) and to-be graduates, I would not want to delimit my field. Anybody interested in the social sciences and the humanities are welcome to participate!
