Before coming to Eindhoven, my education came from the strongly theoretical romanian curriculum, where I finished the „mathematics-informathics” branch of high school. As someone who was always drawn to maths and natural sciences, I’ve always liked helping my peers whenever they asked. Even further, up until starting university, I became more and more fascinated by the way mathematics and physics are used to describe the world, its phenomena as we know them, and use this understanding to develop solutions and improve our lives. Because of this I chose to study Mechanical Engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology, where problem solving and critical thinking are essential skills. My philosophy is: if I can make my students understand the subjects while also seeing the beauty behind the science, they will start sharing the love for learning and will find it more natural and easy.

Since my time as a student is also far from over, I can relate to the difficulties faced in learning something new, fields that have been developed across centuries, where scientific information and rules often seem to be arbitrarily accepted as true. Due to this feeling, I've found that the most common but overlooked issue students of all ages encounter when studying subjects simple and complex is not understanding the logic and reasoning behind the studied concepts. That’s why a successful lesson always ensures the student keeps a continuous flow of understanding which means every new piece of information is just a building block put atop a growing tower. This allows, at the end of the lessons, that even the most complex mathematical and physical concepts become nothing more than the logical finale of an intuitive line of reasoning. When coaching my peers during exam periods, I always tried to start from the fundamental knowledge needed to solvee a problem, like a formula or algorithm, and walk through consecutive steps towards the solution. When someone couldn’t follow the process anymore, it meant we found the "problem point", and a slow re-explanation of the topic, while making sure everyone remained on track, allowed a direct logic connection to form between the given problem, the solving method, and the final solution. This method trains the student to use their own understanding and critical thinking to develop the solution in a step-by-step logical fashion, as opposed to memorising which seemingly random formula obtains the correct solution "because the teacher said so".
