I was being mentored closely by Dr. Emad Arasteh for nearly two years in my first research experience.
Throughout this time, his sincere presence, guidance, and dedication left a lasting impact on me both professionally and personally.

He possesses a remarkable combination of qualities that make him an exceptional teacher. Not only is he deeply knowledgeable in math, but also has the rare ability to understand his students on a personal level and offers them tailored advice accordingly. He consistently helped me stay focused, and gently steered me back on track whenever I was in danger of losing direction.

One of Emad’s greatest strengths is his ability to offer both encouragement and constructive criticism. He offers both praise and honest feedback, doing so in a way that is neither discouraging nor overly flattering. His honesty is always coupled with kindness, and his feedback helped me grow without ever making me feel undervalued.

Emad is patient, polite, and highly respectful. In our two years of collaboration, I never once experienced a conflict or felt disrespected. On the contrary, he played a pivotal role in shaping me into a better researcher—more disciplined, organized, and confident in my work.

I gained not only technical skills from him but also invaluable soft skills that will serve me throughout my career. I am confident that any student or colleague who has the opportunity to work with Emad will find the experience equally enriching.
